About the Role
Sir Robert Hitcham CEVAP School is seeking an exceptional and committed Senior Teacher to join our team and work closely with the Headteacher in driving the next phase of our school’s development. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced teacher who wishes to combine significant classroom practice with a defined senior leadership role.
This is a key strategic role for an experienced teacher and leader who is ready to take on whole-school responsibility. The role comprises four days per week as a class teacher and one day per week dedicated to senior leadership responsibilities. You will deputise for the Headteacher in their absence, maintain an overview of day-to-day life in the school, and play a central role in leading people, practice, and improvement.
You will take responsibility for the performance management of support staff, contribute significantly to school improvement priorities, lead a subject or subjects, manage day-to-day operational matters, and help ensure that our school continues to provide a safe, positive, and ambitious environment for all pupils and staff.
This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about teaching, values strong relationships, and is ready to take on wider leadership responsibility, while remaining firmly rooted in the classroom. This role is for someone who has the ability to see both the detail and the bigger picture of school life.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
