Senior Technical Account Manager

Alexander Steele Recruitment is working in partnership with a successful and growing food manufacturer to recruit a Senior Technical Account Manager.

This is a key customer-facing technical role, taking ownership of relationships with major UK retailers and ensuring the business consistently meets customer, legal, food safety, and quality requirements.

Working closely with the Head of Technical and wider business, you will act as the senior technical contact across a portfolio of key retail accounts, coordinating technical communication, leading improvement initiatives, and supporting the successful launch of new products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the main technical contact for key UK retail customers, building strong and effective relationships.
  • Lead and coordinate technical communication between customers and internal teams including Technical, NPD, Operations, Commercial, and Supply Chain.
  • Manage customer requirements, technical requests, KPI scorecards, and improvement plans.
  • Lead customer technical visits, meetings, and audits, ensuring actions are communicated and delivered.
  • Drive improvements in customer complaints, including root cause analysis and effective corrective actions.
  • Support NPD projects from concept through to launch, including specifications, QAS, shelf-life, nutritional information, artwork, and factory documentation.
  • Attend product trials and support validation activities.
  • Complete internal audits and support export documentation where required.
  • Deputise for the Head of Technical on customer-facing technical matters.
  • Provide guidance and support to Technical Account Managers and wider technical colleagues.

The successful candidate will have proven experience within a Technical Account Management role in food manufacturing, ideally working directly with major UK retailers.

You will have a strong understanding of food safety, quality, and legal compliance, alongside retailer codes of practice. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills are essential, as is the confidence to represent the business at a senior customer level.

This role would suit an ambitious, organized, and commercially aware technical professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and managing multiple priorities.
