Are you at your best when you’re working directly with major retailers, building relationships, solving problems and representing a food manufacturer at the customer level? I’m recruiting for a Senior Technical Account Manager with an established food manufacturing business.

This is a senior, highly customer-facing Technical role where you’ll own key retail accounts, act as the main technical contact, and build strong relationships across each account.

You’ll have plenty of visibility across the wider business, working closely with Commercial, NPD, Process, Operations, Technical and Supply Chain. You’ll lead customer initiatives, manage improvement plans and technical visits, take ownership of customer KPIs and scorecards, and help drive improvements in complaints and overall technical performance.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

There’s also good involvement in NPD and product launches, including trials, customer specifications, QAS, shelf-life approval, nutritional reviews, artwork approval and launch documentation. You’ll also provide senior support to the wider Technical team and deputise for the Head of Technical on customer-facing matters when required.

Who could this suit?

I’d be interested in speaking with experienced Technical Account Managers, Senior Technical Account Managers or customer-facing Technical professionals who have:

  • Experience within food manufacturing and working directly with major UK retailers
  • Strong knowledge of food safety, quality, legal compliance and retailer codes of practice
  • Confidence representing a manufacturer at senior customer level
  • Experience completing and managing retailer/customer specifications
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and resolve technical issues pragmatically
  • Ideally, experience supporting or mentoring other Technical colleagues
