Senior Technical Accountant – Lloyds & Reinsurance
Technical accounting, settlement controls, and financial accuracy
Augment Risk is seeking a Senior Technical Accountant with strong Lloyds and reinsurance expertise to help scale a high-control, technology-enabled servicing operation. This person will own critical accounting and reconciliation processes across premiums, claims, commissions, and settlements, and will partner closely with deal teams to ensure that the economics agreed at placement are accurately reflected in the operating record.

Deliver accurate, timely, and well-controlled technical accounting for Augment's reinsurance portfolio, with particular responsibility for Lloyds market business and the operational bridges between contract terms, bordereaux, accounting records, cash, and market settlement.
Key responsibilities:
- Own technical accounting activities for allocated reinsurance and Lloyds portfolios, including premium, claims, commission, brokerage, tax, and settlement accounting.
- Review contracts, endorsements, bordereaux, and placement information to ensure accounting treatment aligns with the commercial agreement and market requirements.
- Prepare and review statements, reconciliations, cash allocations, settlement instructions, and supporting documentation; investigate and resolve breaks promptly.
- Partner with Claims Operations on claims reserves, loss movements, payments, and claims bordereaux, ensuring accurate financial records and traceable support.
- Work with the Lloyds Technical Operations Manager on market-specific processing, controls, exceptions, and data quality.
- Maintain robust accounting controls, evidence, and audit trails; identify risks early and escalate material issues with clear options and recommendations.
- Support credit control, collections, cash application, and payment validation as required across the portfolio.
- Contribute to the design and testing of accounting automation, bordereaux ingestion, reconciliations, and reporting tools while retaining effective human review.
- Provide practical technical guidance to brokers and Client Solutions teams on how deal terms and changes translate into servicing and accounting requirements.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
