Senior Technical Architect | 3 Positions | £575/day | Northern Digital Hubs | No SC Required
Three newly requested architecture positions inside a major UK government department, and unusually for central government work, security clearance is not required to start. That single fact makes these three of the more accessible senior government contracts on the market right now.
The Role
You would be designing solutions across a large enterprise estate — product selection, integration patterns, and the architecture decisions that determine how services actually talk to each other. This is hands-on architecture rather than governance from a distance. The department has requested three of these positions at once, which tells you something about the volume of change going through.

- Extensive experience of Software as a Service product selection and implementation
- Deep technical knowledge designing and working with microservices, APIs, and file-based transfers
- Event-based architecture design and patterns
- Some UK government experience is required
- Comfort operating across a large, multi-supplier enterprise environment
Advantageous
- Previous delivery within this department, or with a Tier 1 systems integrator
- Large-scale SaaS migration or consolidation
- Integration architecture across legacy and cloud-native estates
- Enterprise architecture governance experience
The Details
- Rate: £575 per day
- Positions: 3
- Clearance: SC is NOT required for these roles
- Location: Hybrid across the department's digital hubs — Sheffield, Leeds, Manchester, Blackpool, Birmingham, and Newcastle. Three days per week, 60 percent, in whichever hub suits you
- Travel: Occasional additional travel required and funded by the department
- Contract: Initial 6-month engagement
- Start: As soon as available
