Futureheads is partnered with a leading tech consultancy that specialises in delivering complex and high-impact projects within central government.
Our client is looking for a Senior Technical Architect who can hit the ground running and join a significant ongoing programme of work with one of their biggest gov clients. This is to provide additional support across a complex multi-supplier environment, focusing on supplier technical engagement, architecture reviews, technical assurance, integration design and discovery work.

This role will suit a hands-on and pragmatic Architect with an engineering background, who is comfortable getting into the detail with both suppliers and internal teams.
Essential Requirements
- Significant experience in technical architecture.
- Software Engineering background before moving into Tech Arch.
- Ability to review and challenge supplier-provided architectures, technical designs, implementation approaches and delivery plans.
- Strong understanding of API design, systems integration and distributed architectures.
- Experience participating in technical workshops, design reviews and supplier governance forums.
- Ability to identify technical, delivery and operational risks and recommend pragmatic mitigation strategies.
- Knowledge of resilience, observability, operational readiness and non-functional requirements.
- Comfortable providing technical assurance across the software delivery lifecycle, including testing and production readiness.
- Ability to evaluate technology options through discovery activities, including build-vs-buy assessments and technical prototyping.
- Experience contributing to target-state architecture, technology strategy and service modernisation initiatives.
- Strong stakeholder management and supplier-facing communication skills, with the confidence to challenge constructively and influence technical decision-making.
- Comfortable working across both strategic architecture discussions and detailed technical design reviews.
- Willing to travel to client's offices once per month (location may alternate between London, Birmingham and Leeds)
- Must be eligible for SC clearance and willing to undergo the necessary checks/vetting process
