SENIOR TECHNICAL ARCHITECT | THREE POSITIONS | NORTHERN HUBS

£600 per day, Inside IR35 — Corporate Systems — Central Government

THE ROLE

Three senior technical architects on a central government programme, working across enterprise scale corporate systems rather than one product. These are the systems that run the department itself, covering people, finance, commercial and estates, and a real part of the job is resolving the technical debt that has accumulated in them so the department spends less running what it already has.

The work spans several live services. You would produce the architecture designs, take them through governance, and work alongside delivery teams and other architects so that what gets built matches what was agreed. A significant part of it is deciding what to buy rather than build, running that evaluation properly, and being able to defend the recommendation afterwards.

YOU WILL

  • Lead the technical and architecture design of enterprise scale systems across at least one of people, finance, commercial or estates
  • Design microservice and API-led integration between services
  • Design event-based integration using publish-subscribe and data streaming patterns
  • Design file-based transfer where systems exchange data in bulk
  • Evaluate SaaS products and make build-versus-buy recommendations you can stand behind
  • Resolve technical debt to bring down ongoing IT costs
  • Develop product roadmaps and represent your designs at governance forums
  • Produce a consistent set of solution views that describe the solution to every audience, making the complex simple

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
