Senior Technical Architect – Help shape the future of Evri’s technology landscape

Join Evri as a Senior Technical Architect and play a pivotal role in defining how our products, platforms and engineering teams deliver the next generation of services to millions of customers across the UK. This is an 18-month fixed-term contract offering the opportunity to make a real impact during a period of transformation.

What you’ll be doing
As a Senior Technical Architect, you’ll translate high-level solution designs into clear, robust Low-Level Designs that enable engineering teams to deliver with confidence.
Working across Product, Engineering, UX and Enterprise Architecture, you’ll influence architectural direction, drive best practice and ensure our technology remains scalable, secure and fit for the future.
You’ll operate as a technical authority across multiple domains—supporting delivery, shaping requirements, managing technical debt and championing innovation through proof-of-concepts and emerging technologies.

Responsibilities
- Produce and maintain Low-Level Designs aligned to solution architecture and evolving business needs.
- Champion architectural standards, governance and best practice across teams.
- Identify and manage technical debt, driving refactoring and continuous improvement.
- Define and maintain API contracts and support developer enablement.
- Collaborate across Product, Engineering and Architecture to translate designs into delivery.
- Lead documentation, standardisation and proof-of-concept initiatives.
- Support incident resolution and improve system resilience.
- Mentor engineers and architects, and provide guidance to third parties and stakeholders.
- Assess risks, evaluate options and ensure solutions are scalable, secure and cost-efficient.
Interested? Here’s what you’ll need to be successful
- Strong experience in technical architecture and designing complex, scalable systems.
- Experience building commercial applications, with strong hands-on AWS experience (serverless desirable).
- Expertise in Java, Spring Boot and modern distributed/messaging-based architectures (e.g. SQS, RabbitMQ).
- Experience with API design, DevOps practices and modern engineering approaches.
- Strong understanding of databases (Oracle, RDS, NoSQL or similar).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, business-focused outcomes.
- A collaborative mindset, with experience mentoring and influencing others.
- AWS certifications and experience with emerging technologies (including AI) would be advantageous.
