Senior Technical Author | Contract
£575/day | Outside IR35 | Remote (UK) | 4 months + likely extension
We're working with a leading energy tech platform that needs clear, consistent, customer-facing API documentation.
This isn't a writing role. The engineering teams own and write the docs. You set the standards that let them do it well, and do it fast.
What you'll do
- Define documentation standards and guardrails for the full API estate
- Shape an approach built around how customers actually use the APIs
- Work with the API Product Manager and key stakeholders to set direction early
- Get engineering teams moving quickly and able to sustain the docs on their own
- Build platform-agnostic standards (ClickHelp for now), with room to recommend better tooling

What you'll bring
- Senior technical authoring experience, with a strong focus on APIs
- A track record of setting documentation standards, not just following them
- Confidence working with engineers and getting them to buy in
- Familiarity with API specification standards (e.g. OpenAPI)
- Experience with docs platforms and tooling, ClickHelp a bonus
