Senior Technical Business Analyst – Automation & Digital Transformation
AVP Level
Location: London
Working Model: Hybrid - minimum three days per week in the office
We are recruiting three Senior Technical Business Analysts to join a newly established Digital Transformation and AI team within a major international financial-services organisation.
This is a senior individual-contributor position aligned to AVP level. It combines business analysis and process transformation with genuine hands-on solution development.
It is not a traditional documentation-only Business Analyst role. You will be expected to investigate operational problems, redesign processes and personally prototype and build practical solutions using Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, Python and automation technologies.
The Role
The organisation is undertaking a significant programme to modernise manual, spreadsheet-based and legacy operational processes. You will own transformation initiatives from initial discovery through to implementation. This will include engaging stakeholders, running workshops, mapping processes, identifying the right technology and building solutions that improve productivity, service quality, data accuracy and operational control.
The position is expected to be approximately 70% hands-on technical development and 30% business analysis, stakeholder engagement and delivery coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead workshops with operational teams and senior stakeholders to understand problems, requirements and improvement opportunities.
- Define clear problem statements and produce as-is and to-be process maps.
- Identify the most appropriate solution rather than applying the same technology to every problem.
- Personally prototype, build, test and implement low-code, automation and data-visualisation solutions.
- Develop dashboards and management reporting using Power BI.
- Build business applications and automated workflows using Power Apps and Power Automate.
- Use Python for scripting, data processing and process automation.
- Modernise processes currently reliant on spreadsheets, macros, Access databases or manual workarounds.
- Take individual initiatives from discovery and requirements through development, testing, implementation and early-life support.
- Translate detailed analysis into concise management presentations, recommendations and committee updates.
- Explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- Support the adoption of Copilot, AI agents and other GenAI-enabled tools within operational workflows.
- Ensure solutions are delivered within appropriate governance, risk and control frameworks.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Desirable Experience
- Robotic Process Automation experience using Tungsten Automation/KTA, UiPath, Pega or another enterprise RPA platform.
- Experience replacing spreadsheet, macro or Microsoft Access-based processes with scalable applications and workflows.
- Copilot, Copilot Studio, GenAI or AI-agent experience.
- Experience within banking, financial services or another complex regulated environment.
- Knowledge of corporate banking, loans, trade finance or global markets operations.
- Exposure to OCR, document-management or intelligent-automation technologies.
The Ideal Profile
You may have started your career as a Business Analyst before developing strong technical and solution-building capabilities.
You will be comfortable moving between a stakeholder workshop, a process map, a senior management presentation and the hands-on development of a working solution. The strongest candidates will be curious, self-directed and practical. You will take ownership of problems, learn new tools quickly and remain focused on delivering measurable operational improvements.
This position is unlikely to suit a Business Analyst whose experience is limited to producing requirements documentation, or a project manager who has coordinated technical delivery without personally building solutions.
