The Role

As a Senior Technical Consultant at Bonham and Brook, you will lead the strategic preparation and management of R&D tax credit claims, serving a large and diverse client portfolio. In this role, you will act as a senior advisor, guiding clients through the R&D claim process and ensuring compliance with DSIT Guidelines and the Corporate Intangibles Research and Development Manual. Your leadership will be critical in maintaining and enhancing our firm’s reputation for excellence and integrity in the R&D consultancy sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Claims Leadership: Direct the preparation of detailed R&D technical reports, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards across multiple industries.
  • Senior Client Engagement: Lead high-level meetings and technical discussions with key stakeholders from project management to executive levels, accurately documenting eligible R&D activities.
  • Technical Analysis: Conduct in-depth analyses of clients’ R&D activities to evaluate innovative aspects of their work and eligibility for tax incentives.
  • Project and Process Management: Oversee project timelines and manage the end-to-end claims process, ensuring efficient and accurate submissions.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Liaison: Serve as the primary contact for HMRC, manage regulatory compliance checks, and lead enquiry defence services, ensuring robust representation of clients’ interests.
  • Knowledge Leadership: Stay updated with legislative changes in R&D tax incentives, advising clients and internal teams on best practices and compliance.

Qualifications and Skills

We are seeking a technical professional who possesses:

  • Technical Degree: Possession of a degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or similar.
  • Proven Experience: Minimum of 2+ years in a technical consulting role, with extensive experience managing R&D tax credit claims.
  • Expert Communication Skills: Exceptional ability to articulate complex technical and regulatory information to a varied audience.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical abilities with a demonstrated track record in strategic problem-solving.
  • Leadership Abilities: Proven leadership skills with experience managing large client portfolios and leading teams in high-stakes environments.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively as part of a team including the delivery of learning and development sessions across the Company.
  • Up-to-Date Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of current government tax credit legislation and ongoing engagement with legislative developments.
