About The Role And What You’ll Do
As a Senior Technical Implementation Lead, you will play a key role in delivering secure identity and national identity solutions for government customers worldwide.
This is a senior, hands-on technical delivery role covering staging, deployment, configuration, commissioning, troubleshooting and operational handover of complex customer solutions. You will translate approved technical designs into controlled implementation plans and ensure solutions are deployed safely and in line with project, quality, security and change-control requirements.
You will provide technical leadership while remaining directly involved in implementation and validation. Working closely with Project Managers, architects, Development, QA, Support, customers and third-party suppliers, you will help ensure successful delivery from preparation through to operational handover.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead implementation of complex secure identity and national identity solutions across customer environments.
- Plan and coordinate staging, installation, configuration, deployment and commissioning activities.
- Translate approved technical designs into clear implementation plans, work packages and deployment activities.
- Personally build, configure, troubleshoot and validate infrastructure where required.
- Deploy and support Windows/Linux servers, virtualisation, storage, networking, databases, backup and recovery components.
- Ensure implementation activities meet project milestones, quality standards and customer requirements.
- Provide technical direction and day-to-day leadership to implementation engineers and act as a technical escalation point.
- Ensure production changes are planned, tested, documented, approved and supported by appropriate rollback and recovery procedures.
- Lead deployment-readiness reviews and provide technical input to implementation go/no-go decisions.
- Identify and manage technical, operational and security risks, dependencies and deployment constraints.
- Ensure solutions are stable, documented and supportable before handover, including monitoring, backup, recovery, failover and maintenance readiness.
- Work with QA to ensure environments are ready for testing and customer acceptance.
- Maintain implementation records, technical documentation and knowledge-transfer materials.
- Mentor implementation engineers and promote consistent implementation and documentation standards.
- Work directly with customers and suppliers, communicating technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Present technical status, risks, options and recommendations to relevant stakeholders.
- Provide technical input to bids, proposals and change requests, including delivery approaches, infrastructure assumptions, effort and risks.
- Challenge incomplete, untested or unsupported approaches and escalate delivery, security, quality or operational-readiness concerns

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

This is not a purely coordination or project-management role. The successful candidate must remain technically hands-on and contribute directly to implementation, troubleshooting and validation. The role implements approved designs rather than owning overall solution architecture or product design.
