Base Location: You'll be expected to spend 50% of your working week in one of the following locations: Reading, Perth or Dublin

Salary: £68,100 - £102,100 + car allowance + performance-related bonus and a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Dublin Salary: €90,300 - €135,500 + Car allowance + performance-related bonus and a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible

The Role

Ready to help shape the future of AI at SSE? We're looking for a Senior Technical Product Owner to lead the strategy and delivery of Data, AI and Automation capabilities across ECS. This is a unique opportunity to influence how emerging technologies are adopted at scale, drive major business transformation programmes and build the internal capability that will power SSE's digital future. Working across high-profile customer and business-facing initiatives, you'll combine strategic vision with hands-on technical leadership to turn innovation into measurable business outcomes.

You Will

  • Lead the Data & AI strategy, translating business priorities into a clear roadmap and delivery plan that delivers measurable business value.
  • Partner with Data and AI Platform Owners to shape platform direction, prioritise investment, and ensure successful adoption of Data, AI and Automation capabilities across the business.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership across Data and AI initiatives, actively contributing to solution design, architecture decisions and problem solving where required.
  • Stay at the forefront of emerging AI, data and automation technologies, assessing industry trends and opportunities to bring new capabilities and expertise the business, with a strong focus on building and growing in-house capability.
  • Lead, coach and develop a team of Lead Developers, fostering a high-performing engineering culture, strong technical standards and continuous learning.
  • Act as the key interface between business stakeholders, engineering teams, architects and strategic partners, ensuring appropriate governance, standards and controls are applied across the portfolio.

You Have

  • Significant experience leading Data, Analytics and AI portfolios within a complex enterprise environment, delivering tangible business outcomes through technology and innovation.
  • Strong technical credibility across modern data platforms, AI technologies and cloud-native architectures, with the ability to combine strategic leadership with hands-on delivery.
  • A passion for emerging technology, evidenced by maintaining awareness of AI, data and industry developments, and successfully translating innovation into practical business value.
  • Experience building internal capability and reducing dependency on third parties through the development of skills, platforms and engineering expertise.
  • Proven people leadership experience, including coaching and developing senior technical professionals and creating high-performing engineering teams.
  • The ability to influence and challenge stakeholders at all levels, from engineers and architects through to senior business leaders, while maintaining a delivery-focused mindset.
