Role/Team Overview

We are looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Technical Product Owner to join the Technology team within Sky Protect Insurance.

Working closely with engineering teams you will drive the delivery and evolution of insurance solutions across a complex technology landscape.

This is an exciting opportunity building scalable solutions that support our new panel operating model and to help build and launch future insurance products.

What You’ll Do

As a Senior Technical Product Owner within an experienced agile engineering squad, you will lead the analysis & refinement of objectives into actionable user stories. You will bring a strong technical background, with experience working on platforms that leverage multiple system integrations, APIs, and data exchanges. Partnering closely with engineers, architects, and business stakeholders, you will define requirements, support the production of data mappings and specifications, and ensure solutions meet high standards of quality, performance, and scalability. A solid understanding of underwriting and pricing processes, combined with a passion for continuous platform improvement, will be key to success in this role.

  • Lead technical analysis activity including scoping; refinement and translation of features into development-ready user stories with clear acceptance criteria.
  • Lead agile ceremonies including squad refinement.
  • Facilitate product and technical discussions & function as the point of contact for squad queries, ensure alignment through dependency tracking and cross-team coordination.
  • Work within the SAFe Agile framework and contribute to squad processes.
  • Responsible for identifying opportunities for technical optimisation.
  • Coach and Mentor Technical Product Owners - provide structured coaching and informal mentoring to TPOs supporting their growth and developing their skills.
  • Identify skill gaps and development opportunities within the TPO community and implement initiatives to uplift capability and maturity.
  • Promote a Culture of Continuous Improvement – utilise data, feedback loops, retrospectives, etc, to identify opportunities for improvement.

Essential Criteria

What you’ll bring

  • Previous experience as a Technical Product Owner or similar role within financial services, ideally insurance
  • Experience working on platforms that leverage multiple system integrations, APIs, and data exchange, often with third party suppliers.
  • Strong understanding of system domains, develop, test and release processes.
  • Strong experience of scaled agile software delivery lifecycle & Agile/Scrum methodology

Desirable skills and experience:

  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of audiences including product, commercial and technology stakeholders.
  • Excellent problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Pragmatic, delivery- oriented mindset with the vision, drive and diplomacy required to make things happen in an environment of ambiguity, complexity and multiple stakeholders, being able to influence others without direct authority.
  • Proficient in using tools such as Jira, confluence, MIRO, Figma etc.
  • Familiarity with technical tools (e.g. postman, SQL, platform monitoring tools)

We've adopted a hybrid working approach to give more flexibility on where and how we work. The hybrid working expectations for this role are 2 days in the office per week.

Your office base

Preference is Osterley, however applicants based out of Leeds - Whitehall, or Livingston will also be considered.
