Senior Technical Services Manager

Equans is looking for a Senior Technical Services Manager to join our team at Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital on a permanent basis. This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week. On offer is a competitive salary, company vehicle or allowance, bonus and benefits package.

About the Role

The postholder will act as the technical lead for hard FM services, driving operational excellence, asset reliability, compliance, workforce development, and continuous improvement.

The Senior Technical Services Manager is responsible for the safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of all engineering and technical services across a large acute healthcare PFI estate. The role provides operational leadership to multidisciplinary engineering teams and specialist contractors, ensuring all statutory, contractual, and healthcare-specific requirements are met whilst maintaining a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.

Responsibilities

  • Manage compliance and ensure it is fully up to date from respective Facilities Managers/supervisors.
  • Ensuring that contractor and the in-house engineering team are competence checked and they are appointed as Competent Persons.
  • Working with direct reports to ensure the collaborative development of the business, effective teamworking, and support to colleagues.
  • Ensure safe systems of work are in place and always used.
  • Ensure that the contract delivery team has sufficient appointed persons to undertake works as per EQUANS Safety Rules.
  • Undertake AP/RP positions/duties such as L8, Pressure Systems. LV/HV – Ensure adherence to all Statutory Standards and Regulations.
  • Ensure that staff performance is managed as required through for example, performance appraisals, disciplinary proceedings, and grievances.
  • Proactively identify and manage the professional development and training needs of the technical staff.
  • Produce technical reports and evidence as required for assurance and auditing.
  • Ensure delivery of critical workstreams such as reactive and PPMs.
  • Undertake internal audits of performance.
  • Responsibility for critical healthcare infrastructure operating 24/7/365.
  • Manage and support operations to resolve instances of Hard FM non-compliance and non-conformance.
  • Diagnose complex engineering issues and support and implement solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership, directly to operations across engineering disciplines.
  • Be able to work closely with the operational delivery teams, whilst at the same time retaining sufficient independence to be able to fulfil the duties of an independent body.
  • Able to engage comfortably with clients and customers on complex technical and non-technical issues.
