Job Description

Senior Technical Support Officer - Applications Delivery Team

The Senior Technical Support role sits within our Applications Delivery team – a specialist group of technical professionals dedicated to delivering reliable, secure, and highly available IT services that directly support policing operations.

This is a varied and hands-on role where you’ll provide technical support across a range of business-critical systems. You’ll balance strong attention to detail with the ability to understand and contribute to the wider strategic direction of complex application landscapes.

Based at Police Headquarters, Portishead, this is a hybrid role requiring attendance in the office 1-2 days per week, with occasional travel to other police sites. Access to fleet vehicles will be available for business travel. A full UK driving licence is essential.

Key Responsibilities

You will deliver end-to-end technical support across multiple services, including:

  • Provisioning, development, and solution design
  • Installation and configuration of systems and applications
  • Proactive service monitoring, performance assessment, and issue prevention
  • Fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, and resolution
  • System upgrades and patch management
  • Working as part of project teams to support the design and implementation of new solutions
  • Building strong relationships with stakeholders to enable effective collaboration and service delivery
  • Ensuring systems operate to high professional standards, with a focus on stability, availability, performance, and security

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
