The purpose of this role is to bring together and lead all elements of technical training across the business, building and delivering health and safety, safety-critical and equipment-operation training that drives compliance, competence and innovation across the technical space.

You will develop technical competency frameworks and training pathways, assess competence in technical functions, and design and deliver the technology and systems that support scalable, accredited training aligned to ABP standards, operational risk and future workforce needs.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Lead the organisation's technical training strategy, ensuring a consistent approach across health & safety, engineering, marine, and plant operations
  • Develop training programmes that build capability, support compliance, and reduce operational risk
  • Oversee competency frameworks, assessments, and accreditation requirements across technical disciplines
  • Drive the use of learning technologies and innovative training solutions to enhance engagement and effectiveness
  • Ensure technical training meets regulatory, safety, and business standards, maintaining strong governance and audit readiness
  • Lead and develop a high-performing technical training team, delivering against strategic priorities and workforce needs
  • Monitor performance, compliance and competence data to drive continuous improvement and future capability development

Skills and Experiences

  • Proven track record of building and delivering technical and/or health and safety training in a complex, safety-critical or operational environment
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation, compliance and accreditation requirements for safety-critical and equipment-operation training
  • Experience developing technical competency frameworks and assessing competence in technical functions
  • Experience deploying learning technology and systems (e.g. LMS, digital learning) to support scalable training delivery
  • Strong stakeholder and project management skills to drive value across a matrixed, technical organisation
  • Proven track record of leading and growing a high-performing team
  • Desirable: relevant health and safety qualification (e.g. NEBOSH) and/or L&D / TAP / CIPD qualification
