The Position

We're looking for a Senior Technician to join our Estates Team, supporting our Hinckley and Harrowbrook campuses. The successful candidate may also be required to work across other College sites when operationally required.

Are you an experienced maintenance professional with strong practical skills and the ability to coordinate day-to-day operational activities? Do you take pride in maintaining safe, secure and welcoming environments?

As a Senior Technician, you will play a key role in supporting the smooth operation of our campuses through maintenance, repairs, contractor supervision, portering duties and operational support. Working closely with the Estates Team, you will help ensure our facilities are maintained to a high standard and provide an excellent environment for staff, learners and visitors.

This is a varied, hands-on role offering the opportunity to lead operational activities, coordinate resources and contribute to the ongoing development and maintenance of our College estate.

What Skills Are We Looking For

  • Proven practical experience in a hands-on maintenance role with skills in carpentry, painting, plumbing and general repairs.
  • Experience of coordinating operational activities, contractors and team members.
  • Knowledge of routine building maintenance, security procedures, fire safety systems and emergency processes.
  • Experience of working within a technical or maintenance environment.
  • Experience using computerised maintenance management systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to maintenance issues.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • The ability to work independently whilst contributing positively to a wider team

Responsibilities For The Role

As a Senior Technician, you will take a leading role in supporting the day-to-day operation of the campus, ensuring buildings, grounds and facilities are maintained to a high standard. You will coordinate operational activities, oversee maintenance and repair work, support site security, monitor compliance requirements and work closely with contractors to ensure College health and safety standards are met. The role also includes responsibility for inspections, statutory checks, equipment management and you will make a direct contribution to providing an outstanding environment for our learners, staff and wider community.

The Location: This role is based across our Hinckley and Harrowbrook campuses, with occasional travel to other College sites as required.
