About SOCOTEC

Company Description

Infrastructure plays a critical role in shaping the future of built environments. SOCOTEC’s Infrastructure team delivers essential technical services to ensure the safety, quality, and compliance of major construction and civil engineering projects across the UK.

We provide:

  • Independent construction materials testing (strength, durability, performance)
  • Foundations and pile testing to confirm ground stability
  • Specialist structures, pavements and infrastructure assessment
  • Integrated geotechnical and structural monitoring to deliver real-time data throughout project lifecycles

Our experts use industry-leading equipment and advanced technology to support projects from initial site investigation through to construction and long-term performance. By helping clients manage risk, meet regulatory standards, and build resilient assets, we contribute to safer, more sustainable infrastructure.

The Role

About the Opportunity

Are you passionate about structural and foundation testing? This is your chance to **excel as a Senior Technician—a role that empowers you to make an immediate impact within SOCOTEC’s growing Infrastructure division.

We’re seeking a proactive, reliable, and highly flexible Senior Technician to join our foundation testing team. In this position, you’ll work both autonomously and collaboratively, delivering expert testing services while advancing your career in a fast-growing organisation.

This role requires: ✔ Independence and initiative—ability to lead and report findings. ✔ Engineering knowledge—priority given to those with foundation testing, structural instrumentation, or pile load testing experience. ✔ Physical resilience—fieldwork demands manual handling, occasional overnight travel, and working in challenging weather.

Key Responsibilities

Core Duties

Your role will include (but is not limited to):

  • Leading and undertaking site testing, including piling and foundation assessments.
  • Conducting building static load tests and installing monitoring instrumentation.
  • Setting up, operating, and calibrating testing equipment following established methodologies and company Risk Assessments, Method Statements (RAMS).
  • Recording and analysing test data, ensuring quality documentation on site and laboratory reports.
  • Completing project-specific standards, including site records, test sheets, and safety compliance forms to HSE and client requirements.
  • Ensuring adherence to SOCOTEC’s Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental (QHSE) protocols.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
