Job Title: Senior Technician

About the Role
The Senior Technician plays a key role in supporting innovative teaching and learning across Paramedicine programmes within the School of Health and Medical Sciences. The postholder supports the setup, maintenance and operation of clinical skills and simulation facilities, including immersive simulated environments such as ambulance simulations, home care settings and projection-enabled teaching spaces. Working closely with academic staff and students, they provide expert technical support, contribute to scenario-based learning, supervise technicians, and help deliver an outstanding student experience through high-quality technical and simulation services.
Responsibilities
- Support the day-to-day operation of clinical skills and simulated learning environments supporting Paramedicine education, including ambulance, home and projection-based simulation spaces.
- Ensure equipment, teaching areas and resources are prepared, maintained and operated safely and effectively.
- Provide technical support and guidance to students and academic staff, assist with the delivery of immersive simulation scenarios, and troubleshoot equipment issues.
- Supervise technicians, manage stock and maintenance records, and contribute to service improvements while ensuring compliance with health, safety and regulatory requirements.
- When required by the Technical Manager, the post-holder will also provide support to the Physiotherapy and Occupational Health programmes.
- This is a hands-on technical post requiring on-site working every day.

Person Specification
- Excellent technical and organisational skills, with experience supporting simulation facilities, immersive learning environments or specialist equipment in an educational, healthcare or training setting.
- Effective communicator who can build positive relationships with students, staff and stakeholders while delivering a high standard of customer service.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical problems, work independently, manage competing priorities and lead a small team.
- Experience supporting Paramedicine based scenario-based learning environments would be highly advantageous.
