Senior Temporary Works Engineer (Senior Technical Manager)

Location: Flexible (Must be based in England and be happy to travel)

Hybrid Working: 3 days office/site, 2 days home-based

At Octavius Infrastructure, we deliver safe, sustainable and efficient transport solutions across the UK. As our portfolio of highways and civil engineering projects continues to grow, we are looking for a Chartered Senior Technical Manager (CEng) to provide technical leadership across our Highways and Regional Civil Engineering sectors.

This is a key role within the business, combining technical expertise, temporary works leadership, engineering assurance and people development. Working across multiple projects and frameworks, you will help shape engineering solutions from tender stage through to delivery, ensuring they are safe, practical, buildable and commercially effective.

What You'll Be Doing

As Senior Technical Manager, you'll support projects across both our Highways and Regional Civil Engineering sectors, providing practical engineering leadership throughout the project lifecycle. You'll:

  • Provide technical leadership and engineering expertise across a diverse portfolio of projects and bids.
  • Develop, review and challenge temporary works solutions and construction methodologies.
  • Act as a technical authority, supporting project teams with complex engineering, buildability and delivery challenges.
  • Undertake technical reviews and independent design checks, ensuring solutions are safe, efficient and fit for purpose.
  • Support the management of technical risk and engineering assurance across multiple projects.
  • Contribute to tender submissions, delivery strategies and early contractor involvement activities.
  • Mentor, coach and develop Temporary Works Coordinators, Temporary Works Design Engineers and emerging technical leaders.
  • Lead and support a small team, helping build engineering capability across the business.
  • Collaborate with project teams, designers, clients and supply chain partners to achieve successful project outcomes.
  • Champion engineering innovation, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement across the organisation.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
