Senior Test Analyst - Store Technology
We're looking for a Senior Test Analyst to join our Store Technology team, based from NEXT Head Office in Leicestershire!
The Role
Technology drives everything we do at NEXT. Our Store Tech team sits at the center of our digital strategy, developing hundreds of applications used daily by over 28,000 colleagues across 500 stores.
As a Senior Automation Test Analyst, you will join our collaborative engineering teams to ensure our technologies run seamlessly for customers and store colleagues. You will design, build and maintain test automation frameworks while embedding quality throughout the entire development process. You will also mentor junior team members, supporting their growth while exploring smarter ways to automate everyday processes.
At NEXT, you will work alongside cross-functional engineering teams with access to modern technology, including Azure Cloud, mobile devices and touchscreen tills.
What You’ll Take On
- Design, build and maintain scalable UI and API test automation frameworks from scratch using modern automation tools.
- Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD deployment pipelines, such as Azure DevOps, to provide instant feedback on every build.
- Define clear test plans, risk assessments and automation strategies for new features and core business logic.
- Validate microservices, REST APIs and database states independently of the UI layer.
- Act as a technical mentor for mid and junior testers, championing quality best practices, clean code and exploratory testing techniques.
- Manage test coverage and defect tracking through tools like Azure Test Plans or Jira to maintain full traceability.
- Identify and resolve test issues early, providing clear updates and highlighting potential risks before they impact project delivery.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What You’ll Bring

- Expertise in testing REST or GraphQL APIs using tools like Postman, Bruno or code-based libraries.
- Strong communication skills, with a collaborative approach to coaching and supporting colleagues in an agile environment.
- A practical, problem-solving mindset with sharp debugging skills, understanding when to automate and when to apply high-value exploratory manual testing.
- Experience with mobile testing on Android or tools like BrowserStack, with exposure to performance testing, mobile automation using Appium or visual regression tools considered a welcome bonus.
If you have the technical expertise and a collaborative mindset to strengthen the systems our colleagues rely on, we would love to see your application.
