Senior Software Test Engineer

Location: Hybrid (UK)
Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 + Excellent Benefits
Job Type: Permanent

About The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Software Test Engineer to join an innovative technology company developing cutting-edge software and connected products.

Working as part of a collaborative Research & Development team, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the quality, reliability and performance of mobile applications, embedded software and backend services. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working across the full testing lifecycle within a fast-paced product development environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Perform manual testing across mobile applications, including functional, regression, usability and stress testing.
  • Develop and execute automated unit tests for software components and APIs.
  • Test embedded software running on hardware products.
  • Carry out testing of web applications and RESTful APIs.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive test plans, test cases and testing documentation.
  • Work closely with Software Engineers to identify, investigate and resolve defects.
  • Perform root cause analysis and contribute to continuous product improvement.
  • Support the development of testing strategies, frameworks and best practices.
  • Help evolve automated testing capabilities across products and cloud-based services.

What We’re Looking For

Essential Skills & Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years’ commercial experience in Software Testing or Quality Assurance.
  • ISTQB Foundation certification (or higher).
  • Experience creating and executing test plans, test cases and user stories.
  • Commercial experience testing mobile applications (iOS and Android).
  • Experience testing web applications for functionality, usability and user experience.
  • Experience testing RESTful APIs.
  • Experience with defect management, bug tracking and root cause analysis.
  • Experience using test management tools such as TestRail or similar.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Desirable Skills

  • Automation testing experience (e.g. Appium).
  • Experience with unit testing.
  • Experience testing C# applications.
  • Embedded software or hardware testing experience.
  • Experience producing technical documentation.
  • Familiarity with Agile development practices.
