Senior Test Engineer Job – Middlesex
A leading engineering organisation is looking for a Senior Test Engineer to join its specialist test and repair team in Middlesex. This is an excellent job opportunity for an experienced RF, electronics or electrical engineer with strong high voltage and microwave testing experience.
The Senior Test Engineer job will focus on fault finding, repair and testing of High Voltage Power Supplies, Travelling Wave Tubes (TWTs), Travelling Wave Tube Amplifiers (TWTAs), Power Amplifier Modules (PAMs) and Microwave Power Modules (MPMs).
Responsibilities
As a Senior Test Engineer, responsibilities will include:
- Testing High Voltage Switch Mode Power Supplies and TWTs at voltages of up to 35kV.
- Fault finding High Voltage Power Supplies, TWTAs, PAMs and MPMs down to component level.
- Testing and debugging software.
- Carrying out RF testing on S, C, X, Ku and millimetric band TWTs.
- Testing TWTAs using oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers, vector network analysers, RF power meters, RF signal generators and pulse generators.
- Carrying out Environmental Stress Screening, including vibration, altitude and operational temperature cycling.
- Testing equipment against both commercial and military specifications.
- Planning and supervising workloads and ensuring production test plans are delivered to schedule.

Engineering Responsibilities
The successful candidate will also be expected to:
- Identify engineering problems and ensure effective solutions are implemented.
- Design and conduct tests to confirm product performance.
- Monitor project progress and support delivery against schedules.
- Coordinate activities and resolve technical issues.
- Work closely with engineering, production and quality teams.
- Help maintain high standards of Health and Safety.
- Provide technical support and guidance to other members of the test team.

Skills & Experience
Applicants for this Senior Test Engineer job should ideally have a degree in RF, Electrical Engineering, Electronics or Physics. Candidates with a minimum HNC qualification in a relevant engineering discipline will also be considered.
The role requires:
- Experience fault finding electronic equipment down to component level.
- Good understanding of switch mode power supplies.
- Good understanding of RF component design.
- Experience testing specialist RF or microwave equipment.
- Good understanding of C#/.NET Windows applications.
- Ability to supervise and support other engineers.
