Senior Test Engineer
Contract Duration: 6 Months
Location: Birmingham, Sheffield, Newcastle, Manchester, Blackpool, Leeds – 60% Hybrid Working
We are seeking an experienced Senior Test Engineer to provide technical leadership and define testing strategies across multiple teams. The role will be responsible for ensuring quality, consistency, and best practices across testing activities while driving improvements through standardisation, knowledge sharing, and technical innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define testing strategies and provide technical leadership across multiple Test Engineering teams.
- Lead testing delivery activities, ensuring quality, timelines, and delivery objectives are achieved.
- Act as an escalation point for complex defects, testing challenges, and delivery blockers.
- Define test infrastructure approaches, recommend suitable testing tools, and improve test suites by reducing technical debt.
- Drive reusable testing practices, collaboration, and alignment across teams.
- Develop effective test approaches, reporting mechanisms, and quality metrics for stakeholders.
- Ensure usability, accessibility, security, stability, and capacity testing are embedded within digital services.
- Lead investigative testing activities, recommend process improvements, and support adoption of best practices.
- Plan and manage functional, non-functional, system, and acceptance testing activities.
- Design and execute non-functional testing, communicate outcomes, support defect prioritisation, and provide technical guidance.
- Promote suitable testing tools, methodologies, and delivery approaches.
- Apply strong technical knowledge and understanding of wider digital technology landscapes.

- Extensive experience working in Test Engineering leadership roles.
- Strong knowledge of test strategy development, test planning, functional testing, and non-functional testing.
- Proven experience leading multiple testing teams and mentoring Test Engineers.
- Experience with test automation, test tools, test infrastructure, and improving testing processes.
- Ability to analyse complex technical issues, recommend improvements, and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of digital delivery, Agile methodologies, and quality assurance practices.
