About the Role
Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Test Engineer to provide technical leadership across the testing of large-scale, data-driven digital services.
This is a senior hands-on position combining test strategy, technical delivery, and leadership. You will establish effective testing approaches, support engineering teams, and ensure quality is considered throughout the development lifecycle.
The environment involves complex data processing and enterprise technologies, making strong experience with Informatica PowerCenter and Oracle essential.
Responsibilities
- Define and improve test strategies across complex digital and data services.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to multiple test engineering teams.
- Oversee testing activity to ensure quality and delivery objectives are achieved.
- Establish appropriate test approaches, standards, tooling, and reporting.
- Resolve or escalate technical issues affecting successful test delivery.
- Define requirements for effective test environments and supporting infrastructure.
- Improve automation, test coverage, and overall testing efficiency.
- Monitor test-suite performance and address areas of technical debt.
- Encourage reusable testing approaches, tools, and components across teams.
- Coordinate dependencies and testing priorities across multiple workstreams.
- Work with senior stakeholders to communicate quality, risk, and testing outcomes.
- Ensure performance, security, accessibility, usability, and resilience are considered throughout testing.

Essential Experience & Technical Skills
- Strong commercial experience as a Senior Test Engineer, Test Lead, or similar.
- Hands-on experience with Informatica PowerCenter.
- Strong Oracle database experience.
- Experience defining test strategies for complex systems or programmes.
- Strong understanding of testing within data-intensive environments.
- Experience providing technical leadership to test engineering teams.
- Ability to establish effective test approaches, tooling, and quality standards.
- Strong understanding of the software development and testing lifecycle.
- Experience identifying defects, technical risks, and barriers to delivery.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

Desirable Experience
- Experience working with large and complex datasets.
- Strong SQL skills.
- Experience developing or maintaining automated testing solutions.
- Exposure to AWS or other cloud environments.
- Previous experience within large-scale public sector or similarly complex enterprise environments.
- Experience improving test infrastructure, automation, and reusable testing frameworks.
- Knowledge of performance, security, accessibility, and resilience testing.
Working Arrangements
This is a hybrid position requiring approximately 60% onsite attendance. Candidates can be based around one of the available locations in Birmingham, Sheffield, Newcastle, Manchester, Blackpool, or Leeds.
