Senior Test Engineer
Location: Gloucester
Skills Required: HNC/HND, Degree in Mechanical, Hydraulic, Mechatronics, Structural Testing, Static testing, Fatigue testing, Environmental testing, Strain Gauging, Test Rigs.
About the Role
We are looking for passionate individuals to join our Testing team as a Senior Test Engineer at our Gloucester site.
Safran Landing Systems are a global leader in aircraft landing and braking systems, from commercial and business travel to military and defence fleets.

- Delivering development and qualification tests from the early planning stages through the design and setup of test solutions, execution of testing activities, and final reporting.
- Conducting static, fatigue, endurance, and environmental testing to support the development of new landing gear technologies, qualification of new products, and ongoing in-service programmes.
- Reviewing test procedure requirements.
- Developing detailed resource plans to meet testing objectives.
- Leading and coordinating test execution activities.
- Operating control and data acquisition systems.
- Installing and configuring test instrumentation.
- Investigating faults and resolving testing issues.
- Collaborating with internal and external customers, suppliers, and stakeholders.
- Producing technical documentation and comprehensive test reports.
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within the test facility.
Qualifications
You will need a minimum HNC/Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering. Experience in a qualification or development test environment is required, along with the following skills:
- Experience in structural strength, fatigue, endurance, environmental, and/or flight test instrumentation.
- Experience in electrical & hydraulic systems, servo controls and PLC controllers.
- Experience in the application & use of test control systems, data acquisition systems and instrumentation.
- Practical experience within a test environment.
- Knowledge of strain gauging and its application (strain gauge theory would be advantageous).
- An ability to understand technical drawings and test requirement documentation.
- Experience with calibration of transducers, e.g., force, pressure, displacement.
- Technical report writing.
- Project management skills to meet customer requirements and deliver customer satisfaction on quality, cost and time.
- Knowledge of safe working practices relating to all aspects of testing (e.g. General Health & Safety at Work, Risk Assessments, COSHH, Isolation & Lockout procedures, Lifting & Slinging).
- Excellent computer literacy & IT skills e.g. Microsoft Applications.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
