We are seeking Senior Test Engineers to support the development and testing of advanced electro-optical and electronic products and test equipment within a major Aerospace & Defence engineering environment in Basildon.
The role will involve hands-on laboratory testing, test system development, instrumentation, diagnostics, and verification across products incorporating electronic, mechanical, optical, and software components.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute test strategies, procedures, and test solutions.
- Support the design, integration, and commissioning of test systems.
- Perform hands-on laboratory testing, measurement, and diagnostics.
- Work with electrical and electro-optical test instrumentation and analyze test data.
- Support integration, verification, and validation activities.
- Interpret product-level test requirements and contribute to structured engineering processes.
- Produce and review technical documentation, test procedures, and user instructions.
- Work collaboratively with hardware, software, optical, and systems engineers.

Essential Experience
- HND or higher in Systems, Electrical, Electronic Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Practical experience in one or more of:
- Electrical testing
- Electro-optics
- Environmental testing
- Acoustic testing
- Hands-on lab-based testing, diagnostics, and measurement.
- Good understanding of test instrumentation and data analysis.
- Experience working within structured engineering lifecycles/processes.
- Strong attention to detail and organization.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Collaborative approach to working within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- SC clearance or ability to obtain SC clearance.

Desirable
- LabVIEW, MATLAB, or similar test software
- Soldering experience
- Mechanical design and STTE
- Industry-standard ECAD tools
- Understanding of environmental effects on hardware performance
