We are seeking Senior Test Engineers to support the development and testing of advanced electro-optical and electronic products and test equipment within a major Aerospace & Defence engineering environment in Basildon.

The role will involve hands-on laboratory testing, test system development, instrumentation, diagnostics, and verification across products incorporating electronic, mechanical, optical, and software components.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute test strategies, procedures, and test solutions.
  • Support the design, integration, and commissioning of test systems.
  • Perform hands-on laboratory testing, measurement, and diagnostics.
  • Work with electrical and electro-optical test instrumentation and analyze test data.
  • Support integration, verification, and validation activities.
  • Interpret product-level test requirements and contribute to structured engineering processes.
  • Produce and review technical documentation, test procedures, and user instructions.
  • Work collaboratively with hardware, software, optical, and systems engineers.

Essential Experience

  • HND or higher in Systems, Electrical, Electronic Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Practical experience in one or more of:
    • Electrical testing
    • Electro-optics
    • Environmental testing
    • Acoustic testing
  • Hands-on lab-based testing, diagnostics, and measurement.
  • Good understanding of test instrumentation and data analysis.
  • Experience working within structured engineering lifecycles/processes.
  • Strong attention to detail and organization.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Collaborative approach to working within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • SC clearance or ability to obtain SC clearance.

  • Soldering experience
