Job Summary
It is an exciting time for HM Land Registry (HMLR) as we continue on a major transformation programme. HMLR's ambition is to become the world’s leading land registry for speed, simplicity and an open approach to data.
HMLR are recruiting for 5 Senior Test Engineers to join our Transformation and Technology team to help us achieve this.
HM Land Registry's existing software systems and services form part of the critical national infrastructure, safeguarding land and property ownership valued at £8 trillion. This enables over £1 trillion worth of personal and commercial lending to be secured against property across England and Wales.
Job Description
You will work across projects and alongside test managers assisting new teams start technical frameworks, documenting new approaches and process and helping resolve technical impediments.
You will work closely with the Lead Test Engineer to innovate, predict and resolve technical issues before they occur to help smooth advancement.
Main Duties Include:
- Advocate best practice leading through practical examples and guidance
- Perform in depth reviews reporting quality improvements and successes
- Update and enhance technical practice and quality frameworks
- Work with teams to assist technical startup and overcome impediments
- Teach, mentor and be a role model for quality test implementation
- Be able to perform technical and business analysis that will underly technical solutions
- Innovate and generate tooling to assist testing tasks and potential future issues
- Be able to understand overall system process and architecture to understand issues and impact that may need to be considered
- Build relations and input into other practices to represent test community views and help build enhancements
Please note that this role requires a minimum of 30 hours per week.
HMLR expect everyone to spend at least 60% of their working time in the office.
Person Specification
To be successful in this role, you must hold the following:
- ISTQB Foundation in Software Testing
- Degree level or equivalent in Computing
And It Is Desirable That You Hold The Following:
- Advanced Technical Test Analyst
- Advanced Test Automation Engineer
Please note that the desirable criteria will only be assessed in the case of needing a tie-breaker.
You will have practitioner level experience of automated testing and automated test tools, as well as an understanding of environment needs and capabilities. You will be a practitioner in technical analysis and be able to absorb large amounts of conflicting information to determine solutions.
You will have practitioner level experience in both functional and non-functional testing, and in technical breadth over a range of tools and techniques.
You will have experience in integration practices and in training and mentoring technical test skills.
HMLR expect everyone to spend at least 60% of their working time in the office.

Selection Process Details

You will then be invited to complete a short assessment. This assessment will be emailed to you through CS jobs. If you pass the assessments you will receive a full sift score.
If successful at sift, you will be invited to attend a virtual, blended interview, which will be held through Microsoft Teams which will include a 10 minute pre-prepared presentation. Further information will be provided to those invited to interview. Interviews will be held shortly after the sift.
