Evolito develops and manufactures class-leading, lightweight, high-power, and high-torque-density electric propulsion systems for a range of aerospace markets, including EVTOL, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, and General Aviation. As well as ultra-high performance, low-weight electric motors and controllers, Evolito specialises in high integrity, bespoke battery systems for the aerospace and defence markets. The team is scaling rapidly and has ambitious growth plans over the next twelve to eighteen months.
As part of our current high-growth phase, we are looking for a Senior Test & Verification Technician to join the team to support the development of Evolito’s motors, controllers, and electric drive systems towards certification under the guidelines of RTCA DO-160G.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the set up of test control system configuration in accordance with test requirements
- Operating test rigs such as dynos, vibration/shaker, EMC, and HALT/HASS chambers to test cutting-edge electrical motors, controllers, and electric drive systems
- Supporting test programs conducted at external test facilities
- Training junior team members on the safe use of laboratory equipment and participate in commissioning of new equipment and capability in order to disseminate learning to the wider team
- Championing test processes, including pre-test assessments to ensure test readiness covering technical, operational, and safety considerations
- Supporting Engineers in the creation of test cases and procedures to meet project objectives
- Conducting pre-defined data analysis and using pre-existing analysis tools (e.g. MATLAB & Python scripts)
- Soldering and assembly of wiring harnesses and other electrical assemblies for test instrumentation (e.g. simple mechanical/electrical parts including looms, connectors, crimping, etc.)
- Supporting Lead T&V Engineers in laboratory operations such as 6S, H&S, and CoSHH documentation and training
- Supporting Lead T&V Engineers in the scheduling of test facilities and rigs for the execution of test programs ensuring stakeholders are informed
- Taking a leading role in laboratory equipment maintenance and calibration
- Implementing test system improvements
- Conducting test system FMEA and implementing controls to mitigate risks
- Liaising with external test equipment suppliers to ensure smooth lab operation including identifying critical spares to minimize downtime
- Prioritizing safety actions over other tasks and being mindful of the potential safety implications of all testing activities
- Documenting and reviewing laboratory procedures and safe systems of work
- Supporting cross-functional activities with software, controls, and hardware electronics teams

Skills and Experience Required

- Degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering disciplines or equivalent knowledge and experience
- Proven experience working in a test environment within automotive or aerospace, ideally with exposure to electrical motors or controllers
- Experience of setting up and operating test equipment to standard operating procedures
- Ability to read and modify electrical schematics
- Competency in wire and cable preparation, soldering, crimping, and plumbing of low-pressure fluid circuits
- Competence in debugging electrical systems and conducting basic electrical tests such as impedance and continuity
- Familiarity with CAN or RS-485 standards
- Experience working with high voltage systems up to 1500Vdc
- Good attention to detail and appreciation of the importance of good test data to the end user
- Ability to lift up to 25kg with the appropriate manual handling techniques
- A flexible approach to work, with the desire to thrive in a dynamic, fast-moving environment
- Good verbal and written communication skills
