Senior Texture Artist - ILM London

Job Description:

Are you a creative visionary with a passion for bringing digital humans to life? Join ILM as a Senior Texture Artist and become part of a team that defines excellence in the visual effects industry. We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior artist who embodies our collaborative spirit and creative ambition to create textures and surface details for our world-class productions.

What You'll Do

  • Develop high-quality textures for digital doubles, creatures, and hard surface assets, with a strong focus on surface realism.
  • Combine artistic, technical, procedural, and hand-crafted techniques to deliver high-quality assets on time and within budget.
  • Collaborate closely with Show supervision, Modelers, and Look-Development TDs to ensure consistency and excellence in achieving a photorealistic finish.
  • Working with lead texture artists to address any creative or technical feedback.
  • Contribute to team development by sharing knowledge, supporting others, and helping refine workflows and best practices.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong production experience using Mari within established pipelines.
  • Comfortable exploring procedural and node-based approaches as part of a flexible texturing workflow.
  • Familiarity with photogrammetry workflows and data processing.
  • Expertise in crafting digital materials that mimic real-world reference.
  • Working knowledge of UV mapping principles.
  • Strong organisational and time-management abilities to navigate schedules and meet project demands.
  • Collaborative mindset, engaging constructively with teammates and cross-department partners.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a keen eye for realism.

Preferred Skills:

  • Proven production experience with Mari.
  • Experience with Substance Designer and/or Painter is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Katana, Nuke, and look-development workflows.
  • A basic understanding of the full CG pipeline.
  • Production experience with industry-standard tools and software.

This role is Hybrid, which means the employee will be required to work a minimum of 2 days on-site per week at a Company designated location, and occasionally from home.
