Senior Theatre Practitioner - Endoscopy

Location: New Victoria Hospital, Kingston upon Thames (KT2 7EG)

Full Time 37.5hrs

At New Victoria Hospital, we're dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care and outstanding clinical services. This new role is in our Endoscopy unit, situated within the Theatre Department.

How you’ll help us make health happen

In this role, you’ll provide patient care during the pre, peri and post-operative phase of a surgical patient’s care within the hospital.

You’ll also have regular contract with patients & their relatives, members of the nursing team, Consultant users and all other medical disciplines.

Key responsibilities

Clinical:

  • Anticipate and interpret patient needs and the level of care required.
  • Ability to provide more complex care needs to patients with minimal supervision.
  • Develop advanced clinical skills and specialist practice.

Management:

  • Delegate and co-ordinate the nursing team in the delivery of care for the endoscopy list.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of skill mix.
  • Actively contribute to the development and updating of endoscopy nursing procedures and policies.

Communication and Teamwork:

  • Lead on communicating with regards to patient care to a team of staff on a regular basis.
  • Communicate effectively with other work teams and areas in support of patient requirements.
  • Support others in the assessment and evaluation of care needs.

Education, Training and Service Development:

  • Act as mentor and preceptor to junior staff including student nurses.
  • Can identify own and others learning objectives.
  • Actively deliver formal and informal training.

What we’re looking for

  • RGN/ODP
  • Sound knowledge of endoscopy practice
  • At least 4 years post registration experience in endoscopy
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Someone who is methodical and logical
  • Effective organisational skills
  • Good time management
  • Calm and able to prioritise and work under pressure
  • Team worker with leadership qualities
  • Flexible and adaptable
