Our theatres team is at the forefront of innovative surgical techniques and comprehensive patient management. We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Senior Scrub Nurse/ODP to join our dynamic team.
Role Overview
As an experienced Scrub Nurse/ODP, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of the patients within the operating theatre. You will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality care and support throughout the perioperative environment. You will also support the planning and preparation of the environment which will involve communicating with the wider service team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the operating list assigned from start to completion, escalating any concerns in a timely manner to the floor-coordinator.
- Prepare the operating room for a range of cases, ensuring all necessary instruments, equipment and staff are available for the day ahead.
- Scrub and circulate for a variety of minor to complex procedures within your NMC/HCPC scope of practice. This will include elective, trauma, and emergency procedures.
- Floor Coordinate for the department and deputising for the Band 7s.
- Communicate effectively with the surgical team and the wider multi-disciplinary team.
- Support with post-operative care as required.
- Ensure accurate documentation is recorded and handed over.
- Participate in training and mentoring of new staff and students as required.
- Organise the specialist equipment required for the procedures ahead of time and communicate this with the relevant internal and external parties.
- Complete clinical audits to provide compliance of the perioperative environment.
