Location: North Shropshire (New Children's Home)

Salary: £31,605 - £34,255 per annum (dependent on experience) + £65 per sleep-in

Contract: Full Time, Permanent

Hours: 173 hours per month on a rolling shift pattern, typically 2 shifts on and 4 shifts off. Attendance at training and team meetings may occasionally fall outside of the normal rota.

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Senior Therapeutic Support Worker to join a new residential children's home in North Shropshire. This is an exciting opportunity to take on a leadership role within a therapeutic care setting, supporting children and young people to achieve positive outcomes in a safe, nurturing, and structured environment.

As a Senior Therapeutic Support Worker, you will lead shifts, support and develop staff, and play a vital role in providing high-quality care that promotes the emotional, social, educational, and personal development of the young people in your care.

The Role

Working Closely With The Registered Manager, You Will

  • Lead shifts and ensure the effective day-to-day running of the home
  • Provide therapeutic care and support to children and young people.
  • Act as the responsible decision-maker on shift.
  • Motivate, mentor, and develop support staff.
  • Promote a safe, structured, and nurturing environment.
  • Ensure safeguarding and welfare remain at the centre of all practice.
  • Complete and oversee care records, reports, risk assessments, and other documentation.
  • Build positive relationships with children, families, and external professionals.
  • Support young people to access education, healthcare, appointments, activities, and community opportunities.
  • Participate in on-call duties as required.

About You

We Are Looking For Someone Who

  • Has experience working within residential childcare, children's services, or a similar care environment.
  • Has experience leading shifts or supporting the development of colleagues.
  • Is passionate about achieving positive outcomes for children and young people.
  • Demonstrates resilience, empathy, and excellent communication skills.
  • Can confidently manage challenging situations in a calm and therapeutic manner.
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Has strong organisational and report-writing skills.
  • Is committed to ongoing personal and professional development.

Essential Requirements

  • Full UK driving licence
  • Flexibility to work shifts, sleep-ins, weekends, and on-call duties.
  • Ability to undertake all aspects of the role, including domestic tasks, driving, and physical interventions where required. Full training will be provided.
