About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior / Principal Earthing, Power Systems & Protection Consultant to join a growing engineering consultancy team.
The successful candidate will bring expertise in earthing, power systems, protection engineering, or a combination of these disciplines, supporting the delivery of technical studies and engineering solutions across HV and EHV infrastructure projects.

This position can be tailored towards an individual with deep expertise in a single discipline or a consultant with broader multidisciplinary experience. You will play a key role in leading technical studies, supporting project delivery, mentoring junior engineers, and contributing to the continued growth of the business.
Responsibilities
- Lead earthing, power systems, and protection studies for HV/EHV infrastructure projects.
- Deliver technical analysis including EPR, touch and step voltages, load flow, fault level, protection coordination, relay settings, and arc flash studies.
- Produce technical reports, calculations, and engineering recommendations.
- Support bids, proposals, and project delivery activities.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership.
- Manage projects to technical, commercial, and programme objectives.

Requirements
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience delivering earthing studies, power systems studies, protection studies, or a combination of these disciplines.
- Strong understanding of HV/EHV electrical infrastructure and relevant industry standards.
- Experience with software such as CDEGS, XGSLab, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, ETAP, IPSA, PSS®E, SKM, or equivalent.
- Strong analytical, technical reporting, and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable

Experience within renewables, grid connections, BESS, transmission, or distribution projects.

Knowledge of EMC, EMI, induction, or lightning protection studies.

Python, VBA, or MATLAB experience.

Chartered Engineer status (or working towards).
