Job Description
Responsible for planned maintenance and breakdown repairs to injection mould tools, Blow Moulding tooling and Injection Stretch Blow Moulding (ISBM) tooling to maintain a fit for purpose condition. To provide machine shop support to site engineering and production functions. Development of onsite spares, tooling manufacture to support onsite manufacture and production needs. Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the efficient repair and servicing of all moulds and tooling, jigs, fixtures and extruder parts, to maintain production requirements and standards.
- To manufacture spare parts, both to drawing and through means of using own initiative, by taking measurements of existing parts and making new ones to the same standard.
- To achieve the highest possible standard of polish, on bought in parts and moulds, to maintain the company’s high standard of quality required on all products.
- To inspect externally manufactured components to drawing and check compatibility to existing moulds.
- To maintain or advise when necessary the condition of sub-contracted moulds.
- Ensure that all equipment is maintained in a safe and reliable condition.
- Carry out and record any periodic PPM checks which have been allocated and for which he/she is competent.
- To assist in any training of other Toolmaker/Production Technicians and to attend any training courses deemed necessary to enhance skill level.
- Ensure safe working practices at all times and adhere to any department rules and regulations.
- Inform Management of any occurrence or foreseeable occurrence likely to cause a breakdown.
- To carry out or organize core/insert changes as required.
- Ensure workplace is kept clean and tidy.
- To ensure compliance with all Company rules and regulations, and also maintain a high standard of housekeeping.
- To ensure manufacturing adheres to and conforms with the required technical and quality specifications in line with the Company’s ISO 9000 quality systems.
- Comply in accordance with Company’s Policies on Health and Safety.
- Support the development of 5S activities to maintain the highest levels of hygiene and housekeeping.
- Support lean manufacturing programme in conjunction with PPI team.
- To be fully committed to concept of team work in all aspects of the job function.
- To act all times in a responsible manner.
- To be flexible and work as part of cross functional team.
- Carry out any reasonable requests that are required to achieve the overall purpose of the job.
- To comply with the terms and conditions of employment operating throughout the Company

CNC Machining Senior Toolmaker additional Responsibility:
- To provide guidance to new starter toolmakers and Apprentices on toolroom practices and procedures.
- To cover morning meetings (T1 & T2 meetings) on absence of toolroom manager.
- To update planning meeting file and attend planning meeting weekly in absence of toolroom manager.
- To be point of call on shift for tooling related concerns or advice whilst toolroom manager is not available.
- To act as point of contact for detailed investigation into non-functioning moulds.
- To provide training for Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) of moulds onsite.
- To provide training for mould hot runner analysis for new starter toolmakers and apprentices.
- To provide training assistance for high end finish of mould cavities/Cores.
- To promote the ‘Take 5’ on shift.
- To host guests in the absence of Toolroom Manager.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 GCSE grade A-C
- Recognized Engineering Apprenticeship
- Formal Engineering Qualification
- Essential Engineering/technical background
- Proven experience in similar role with knowledge of mould tools.
- Formal Indentured apprenticeship.
