Town Planner / Senior Town Planner

Castle Donington, Leicestershire | Permanent | Private Housebuilder

The Opportunity

An ambitious and growing regional housebuilder is looking to appoint a Town Planner / Senior Town Planner to join its East Midlands team based in Castle Donington.

With an expanding development pipeline across the region, this is an exciting opportunity for a planning professional to move into an in-house housebuilding environment, gaining hands-on exposure to the full development process and playing a key role in securing planning consents across a growing portfolio of residential sites.

The role would suit either a Town Planner looking to make the move from consultancy or local government into housebuilding, or an experienced Senior Town Planner looking for greater commercial exposure and responsibility.

The Role

Working closely with the wider Land, Planning and Technical teams, you will be responsible for supporting and progressing planning matters across the company's development portfolio.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing and progressing planning applications from pre-application through to determination.
  • Supporting the preparation of outline, detailed and reserved matters applications.
  • Coordinating external planning consultants and wider consultant teams.
  • Undertaking planning appraisals and assessing potential development opportunities.
  • Researching and interpreting local and national planning policy.
  • Providing planning advice to the Land and Technical teams.
  • Liaising with local planning authorities, consultants, landowners and other stakeholders.
  • Monitoring planning applications, appeals, conditions and development plan matters.
  • Supporting the preparation of planning statements, appeal documentation and other planning reports.
  • Attending planning meetings, site visits and consultations.
  • Assisting with the delivery of planning consents across the company's development pipeline.
  • Identifying planning risks and opportunities and providing commercially focused advice.
  • Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
