The Senior Consultant (Infrastructure Planning) - Town & Country Planning Role
To sustainably grow our business, we are seeking an experienced Senior Consultant to provide town planning and consenting expertise on major and nationally significant infrastructure projects. You will:
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and take responsibility for town planning and consenting inputs across major infrastructure projects (e.g., DCOs, DNSs, TWAOs).
- Provide technical advice to clients, aligning with their expectations and consenting needs.
- Coordinate and support the preparation, drafting, and submission of consent applications under frameworks such as:
- Town and Country Planning Act 1990
- Planning Act 2008
- Planning (Wales) Act 2015
- Town and Country Planning (Scotland) Act
- Transport and Works Act Order
- Electricity Act
- Negotiate with statutory bodies, regulators, and stakeholders on behalf of clients.
- Collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams, including supporting and supervising project delivery.
- Actively drive project success, fostering positive relationships and project alignment.
- Continuously develop your knowledge and skills, enhancing your competence and the team’s capabilities.
- Apply awareness of project finances, ideally within a consultancy setting.

Requirements
We seek candidates who can demonstrate: ✔ A degree-level qualification in town planning (or equivalent experience). ✔ Membership (or eligibility for membership) of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI). ✔ Demonstrable experience in:
- Securing strategic consents for nationally significant infrastructure projects.
- Supporting multi-disciplinary teams through all stages of the consenting process.
- Applying project and budget awareness in a consultancy environment.
