Job Title: Senior Town Planner
Location: Kent
Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting an established planning consultancy in their search for an ambitious Senior Town Planner to join their growing team.
This is an opportunity for a planner who wants genuine ownership of their projects, with responsibility from the initial client conversation through to planning decision.
You'll lead your own smaller projects while also playing a key role on larger and more complex schemes, working alongside a collaborative multidisciplinary team and building strong relationships with clients, Local Planning Authorities and other professional stakeholders.
The Role
Your Responsibilities Will Include
- Leading smaller projects from inception through to planning application and decision
- Managing project timelines, budgets and client relationships throughout the process
- Acting as a key contributor to medium and large-scale projects alongside the wider multidisciplinary team
- Attending client meetings and providing clear, commercially focused planning advice
- Building constructive relationships with Local Planning Authorities and statutory consultees
- Preparing and reviewing planning applications, appeals and supporting documentation
- Keeping up to date with changes to planning policy and emerging Green Belt and Grey Belt guidance
- Applying current planning policy and legislation to a variety of client projects
- Supporting the delivery of Residential and Commercial development schemes
- Mentoring and supporting junior members of the team
- Contributing to the continued development and growth of the planning team

The Candidate
We're looking for a confident planning professional with strong technical knowledge and the ambition to take ownership of projects and develop their career.
You'll Ideally Have
- 3+ years experience within a planning consultancy or Local Authority environment
- MRTPI qualified or actively working towards chartership
- Strong understanding of the UK planning system and how Local Government operates
- Experience across Green Belt, Grey Belt, Residential and/or Commercial planning would be advantageous
- Proven experience managing planning projects and working with clients
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Confidence presenting to clients, stakeholders and professional teams
- Excellent organisational and project management skills
- A full UK driving licence, with the ability to attend site and client meetings across the region
