Job Description

To act as a trusted advisor, originator and thought leader, generating new income streams and identifying strategic business opportunities. Lead Transaction Banking engagements across CIB, originating and structuring complex trade, working capital and transaction banking solutions for clients across multiple geographies and industries. Leverage an extensive professional network and deep market knowledge to identify opportunities, develop bespoke client solutions and drive sustainable revenue growth.

Essential Function:

Origination & Market Development:

  • Acts as a recognised Transaction Banking advisor and client-facing originator, leveraging industry relationships, market insights and existing client relationships to identify and convert new business opportunities.
  • Develops and maintains a strong network of corporate, institutional, fintech, trader, treasury and industry relationships to identify market opportunities, generate deal flow and enhance Standard Bank's market presence.
  • Proactively originates new business opportunities by identifying client challenges, industry trends and market gaps and translating these into commercially viable Transaction Banking solutions.
  • Represents Standard Bank at industry forums, conferences and client engagements, positioning the Bank as a leading provider of trade, working capital and transaction banking solutions.

Structuring & Solutioning

  • Leads the structuring of complex trade, working capital and transaction banking solutions that address client growth, liquidity, supply chain and cross-border trade objectives.
  • Analyses client business models, financial statements, transaction flows and strategic priorities to develop tailored commercial solutions that create measurable value for clients and sustainable returns for the Bank.
  • Works collaboratively with Product, Credit, Risk, Legal and Operations teams to structure innovative and commercially viable solutions that align with client requirements and the Bank's risk appetite.
  • Creates differentiated client propositions and multi-year solution strategies, combining Transaction Banking capabilities into bespoke offerings that position Standard Bank as a strategic banking partner.
  • Leads solution design, structuring and negotiation processes from origination through to execution and implementation.
  • Check client revenues against sales force plan (three-year cycle) and close any variance with clients based on projected revenues and conditions. Leverage the deal brand externally by working with Brand and Marketing to enable targeted and bespoke approaches
  • Prioritise and manage own work to deliver assigned tasks and take responsibility for own development and career progression to consistently deliver work and meet agreed targets

Qualifications

Type of Qualification:

  • Advanced Diploma

Field of Study:

  • Business Commerce

Experience Required

Sales

  • Strong Client engagement skills required
  • Trade Finance experience required
  • Structured trade & commodity finance and vanilla trade experience required
  • +10 years
  • Proven success in originating and converting Transaction Banking opportunities within large corporate and institutional client segments.
  • Extensive experience in Trade Finance, Structured Trade Finance and Working Capital Solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to structure complex, bespoke solutions addressing trade flows, supply chains, liquidity needs and cross-border business requirements.
  • Strong commercial and financial analysis skills, with the ability to identify opportunities through client financial statements, operating models and transaction flows.
  • Established network of senior client decision-makers with a proven ability to leverage relationships to generate new business opportunities.
  • Experience leading complex, multi-jurisdictional transactions involving multiple stakeholders across Product, Credit, Risk and Coverage teams.
  • Strong understanding of international trade dynamics, market developments, digital disruption and emerging business models.
