Reports to: Customer Service & Operations Director
This role will be responsible for leading and developing a team of data analysts and scientists to produce robust and insightful analytics that drive operations success and meet strategic objectives.
The main responsibilities of the role will be to:
- Develop and lead a specialist Trading Analytics team
- Deliver strategic and tactical solutions, with a particular focus on data analytic models
- Strategically evaluate and continuously review the organization’s Trading Analytics offering.
- Provide leadership, direction and thinking on projects that require analytical components.
- Work collaboratively with other departmental manager(s) to effectively manage the allocation of resources to Trading Analytics projects.
- Influence and engage effectively with stakeholders / Panel of Insurers to understand their requirements and advise on the best approach to fulfil these with the data and tools available.
- Research, develop, implement, and integrate new data analytic models, reporting systems and applications which better position the company to achieve its strategic goals.
- Review and evaluate the use analytical products and introduce new products that can support business objectives and unlock value from data assets.
- Develop and control documentation, data governance, data quality and data security.
- Drive efficiencies in how analytical services are delivered.
- Be a subject matter expert for analytics.
- Communicate benefits of analytics to colleagues. Using these communications to both promote growth in analytics, as well as outputs and benefits from existing services.
- Manage relationships with any external providers analytical capability that may be introduced into the company
- Drive the standardization of analytical services to ensure economies of scale of delivery and value for money from investment in analytics.
- Liaise with internal and external customers to manage the development and timely delivery of individual, team and company information.
- Identify and share best practice across group.
- Work closely with colleagues to embed analytics into business processes
- Providing regular, appropriate and timely reports to the Customer Service & Operations Director.
- Assist in the delivery of Annual Forecasting Plans and periodic reforecasting plans alongside Finance
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

- Achieved at least 2:1 Degree in Math’s, Statistics, Actuarial Science, or another subject with similar high mathematical content.
Experience
- Demonstrable experience of coaching, mentoring and/or developing people.
- Demonstrable experience of working within a highly regulated environment, i.e., Financial Services.
- Experience of working with data analytical tools for example, SSIS, SSAS, SPSS, SAS, SQL, Matlab, R.
- Experience of working with and/or developing analytical models e.g., decision trees, neural networks, linear regression, pricing tools etc.
- Experience of working in a life and/or non-life insurance company (desirable)
- Solvency 2 and/or Capital Reserving experience (desirable).
