- Lead the delivery of the council's traffic order programme, ensuring that statutory processes are completed efficiently, accurately and in compliance with legislative requirements.
- Manage the Traffic Management Orders team and budget, oversee consultations and legal notices, provide expert technical advice to colleagues and stakeholders, and support the successful delivery of highway, transport and public realm projects across the borough.
- Play a key role in driving service improvements, supporting digital innovation, developing team capability and ensuring excellent outcomes for residents, businesses and visitors.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for a candidate with:
- A positive approach to problem-solving, a strong attention to detail and a passion for delivering excellent public services.
- Experience managing traffic management order processes or similar statutory highway functions.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation relating to traffic orders, highways, parking and traffic signs.
- Experience managing teams and coordinating multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong customer service skills and experience engaging with members of the public in advisory or problem-solving environments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including preparing reports, briefings and formal responses.
- Strong IT, administrative and data management skills.
- The ability to provide expert advice to senior managers, elected members and external stakeholders.
- Experience working collaboratively with consultants, developers and partner organisations.
- A commitment to innovation, continuous improvement and service excellence.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
