IT Service Transition Manager

Alcor is seeking to hire an IT Service Transition Manager with experience of delivery in a distributed multi-vendor environment, to provide service leadership of an ITIL aligned IT Service Transition Management service within a key Alcor customer.

This is a highly visible, customer-facing consulting role that requires a seasoned professional capable of establishing governance, driving operational readiness, and ensuring the successful transition of new or changed services into production with minimal business disruption. The ideal candidate will be a trusted advisor to both customers and internal stakeholders, partnering with project teams, operations, service delivery, and executive leadership to ensure transition activities are executed efficiently, risks are proactively managed, and operational teams are fully prepared to support new services.

This role is responsible for managing transitions throughout the complete service lifecycle, including:

  • Transition of new services from project delivery into production operations
  • Transition of operational services through major change initiatives
  • Retirement and decommissioning of legacy services
  • Early Life Support (ELS) and Hypercare governance
  • Continuous improvement of the Service Transition framework

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and govern the end-to-end Service Transition lifecycle across multiple concurrent programs and projects.
  • Identify projects requiring Transition Management and establish appropriate governance throughout the delivery lifecycle.
  • Partner with Project Managers, Service Delivery Managers, Operations Managers, Engineering teams, and third-party vendors to define transition scope, deliverables, and success criteria.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive transition strategies, plans, schedules, and operational readiness activities.
  • Lead operational readiness assessments and Service Readiness Reviews prior to production deployment.
  • Drive risk identification, mitigation planning, dependency management, and issue resolution throughout the transition lifecycle.
  • Develop resource plans and coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure successful service onboarding.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all transition-related governance, risks, issues, and executive escalations.
  • Facilitate stakeholder meetings, governance forums, Go/No-Go reviews, and transition checkpoints.
  • Ensure operational teams receive the necessary documentation, knowledge transfer, training, and support prior to service acceptance.
  • Maintain accurate transition documentation, playbooks, governance standards, and reporting dashboards.
  • Monitor transition progress and communicate status, risks, milestones, and dependencies to business and technology stakeholders.
  • Continuously improve the Service Transition framework by introducing best practices, process optimization, automation, and AI-driven operational efficiencies.
  • Ensure transition activities align with ITIL best practices, business objectives, compliance requirements, and customer expectations.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
