Hours: Full Time, 37.5 hours per week

Ready to impact a better future?

At Serco, our transport operations play a critical role in delivering essential public services safely, efficiently, and compliantly. As our PECS Senior Transport Manager, you'll provide strategic leadership across a nationwide fleet operation, ensuring our vehicles, assets, and transport teams operate to the highest standards of safety, compliance, and performance.

We're looking for an experienced fleet professional to lead a small team of Regional Transport Managers and oversee the effective management of the Prisoner Escort and Custody Services (PECS) vehicle fleet. This is an opportunity to make a significant impact within a complex, highly regulated environment where operational excellence and continuous improvement are at the heart of everything we do.

As Senior PECS Transport Fleet Manager, you'll be responsible for ensuring compliance with PSV Operator Licence requirements, UK transport legislation, company policies, and customer expectations, while maintaining fleet availability, controlling costs, and driving operational performance across the business.

What you'll do as a Senior PECS Transport Fleet Manager

In this role, you'll be trusted to:

  • Lead and support a team of Regional Transport Managers, promoting high performance, accountability, and professional development.
  • Ensure full compliance with Operator Licence legislative obligations, Company Policies, and Road Transport directives.
  • Oversee fleet maintenance contracts, monitoring contractor performance, maintenance quality, compliance, and value for money.
  • Manage fleet budgets and maintenance expenditure, ensuring effective cost control and operational efficiency.
  • Maintain fleet availability targets, ensuring operational readiness across the PECS transport network.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across fleet operations, maintenance practices, and transport compliance activities.
  • Manage disposal programmes, fleet inventories, and asset registers.
  • Ensure successful completion of internal and external audits, maintaining high compliance standards across all operating centres.
  • Oversee driver qualification, training, and competency management programmes.
  • Lead investigations into vehicle accidents and incidents, ensuring lessons learned and corrective actions are implemented.
  • Act as the principal point of contact for road transport safety advice and guidance across the business.
  • Develop and maintain transport business continuity plans, supporting resilience across the operation.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
