Senior Transport Planner

Location: Manchester

Emtech Recruitment are working with a leading national property consultancy who are looking to recruit a Senior Transport Planner to join their growing Development Consultancy team in Manchester.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Transport Planner looking to take the next step in their career with a highly respected multidisciplinary consultancy. You'll play a key role in leading transport planning projects, managing client relationships and mentoring junior team members, while working on a diverse portfolio of residential, commercial, industrial and mixed-use developments across the UK.

The Role

As a Senior Transport Planner, you will lead the delivery of transport planning commissions from initial feasibility through to planning submission and project completion. You will take ownership of projects, manage client relationships and work closely with developers, architects, planners and local authorities to deliver commercially focused transport planning solutions.

Alongside project delivery, you'll support the development of junior members of the team, review technical work and help maintain the high standards of quality expected across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of transport planning projects for residential, commercial, industrial and mixed-use developments.
  • Prepare and review Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans and supporting technical reports.
  • Undertake and oversee junction capacity modelling using JUNCTIONS (ARCADY/PICADY), LINSIG and other industry-standard software.
  • Manage client relationships and act as the primary point of contact throughout project delivery.
  • Liaise with Local Highway Authorities and other stakeholders to negotiate transport and highways matters in support of planning applications.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring quality, programme and commercial objectives are achieved.
  • Prepare fee proposals, manage project budgets and assist with resource planning.
  • Mentor and support Graduate and Transport Planners, reviewing technical reports and providing day-to-day guidance.
  • Attend client meetings, planning meetings and public consultation events where required.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across planning, surveying and building consultancy disciplines.

Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience within a Transport Planning consultancy or multidisciplinary engineering consultancy.
  • Strong experience advising developer clients on transport planning matters.
  • Excellent understanding of the UK planning system and transport planning policy.
  • Proven experience preparing and reviewing Transport Assessments, Transport Statements and Travel Plans.
  • Strong working knowledge of JUNCTIONS (ARCADY/PICADY), LINSIG, TRICS and other transport planning software.
  • Excellent report writing, project management and communication skills.
  • Experience mentoring junior team members and reviewing technical work.
  • Ability to manage client relationships and deliver projects with minimal supervision.
