Senior Trust Accountant
Edinburgh | Hybrid Working | Full-Time, Permanent
Are you an experienced accountant looking for something a little different from traditional practice or industry?
We are delighted to be supporting a highly respected professional services firm in their search for a Senior Trust Accountant to join their established Tax & Succession team. This is a rare opportunity to work with a fascinating and complex client base while playing a key role in the development of an in-house Trust Accounting function.
This position would suit someone with experience in trust, executry or legal accounting, or a strong technical accountant keen to develop specialist expertise within a highly regarded professional environment.
The Opportunity
Working closely with legal, tax and external advisory professionals, you will be responsible for the preparation and coordination of accounts for trusts, executries and charitable entities, ensuring accuracy, compliance and exceptional client service throughout. As part of the firm's long-term plans, this role offers the opportunity to contribute to the ongoing development of the Trust Accounting team, making it an excellent step for someone with leadership ambitions.

Key Responsibilities
- Preparation of trust, executry and charity accounts from inception through to completion
- Reviewing, auditing and finalising trust accounts
- Reconciling cash accounts, investment portfolios and tax positions
- Liaising with legal, tax and external advisory teams to ensure accurate and timely reporting
- Supporting the administration of trusts and charitable entities where required
- Maintaining detailed accounting records and preparing periodic reporting
- Identifying opportunities to improve accounting processes and reporting efficiencies
- Supporting the development of the Trust Accounting function and junior team members where appropriate
About You
- Strong accountancy experience within professional services, legal accounting, trusts, executries or a related environment
- Able to prepare accounts accurately with minimal supervision
- Excellent attention to detail and a high level of professionalism
- Strong communication skills and confidence working with a variety of stakeholders
- Comfortable managing sensitive and confidential information
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other accounting systems
- Previous supervisory experience would be advantageous, although candidates looking to take their first step into a leadership role are also encouraged to apply
