Shaftesbury Senior Trusts and Grants Manager

£42,000 - £48,000 per annum Permanent Hybrid, working from London or Gateshead office on average 8 times per month Closing midnight Thursday 12th November

Role

Shaftesbury is a national disability charity that supports more than 4,000 children, young people and adults with a disability every year to live a life that truly adds up for them. That is at the heart of everything we do.

Our vision ‘all together better for disability’, is about working alongside the people they support so they can participate, contribute and be valued for who they are.

Our work is spearheaded by 1,500+ dedicated staff and volunteers who deliver a wide range of disability care, special education and rehabilitation services across England, Wales and Northern Ireland, around the clock.

To achieve our vision, we are looking for a Senior Trusts and Grants Manager with the skill and experience to take our already successful trusts and grants portfolio to the next level.

As a medium sized charity, success in the position requires a robust understanding of the trusts landscape, stewarding funders and the ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy. This role will both do the doing in terms of writing applications, reporting on impact and managing relationships with funders, but also operate strategically internally, engaging the right stakeholders at the right time, and spotting opportunities for new projects to seek funding for. We are seeking someone whose experience and working style align closely with these realities and who is excited by the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a medium charity setting.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
