Senior Underwriter - Property & Casualty (Entertainment)
London | Hybrid Working | Full-Time
A specialist and fast-growing MGA is seeking an experienced Senior Underwriter to join its underwriting team in London.
This is a rare opportunity to underwrite a diverse portfolio spanning film and television productions, live events, music, sports, venues, promoters, production companies and associated service providers.
Working within a highly entrepreneurial environment, you'll play a key role in developing broker relationships, driving profitable growth and helping shape the future direction of a specialist entertainment portfolio.
The Opportunity
We're looking for an experienced Property & Casualty Underwriter who enjoys building relationships, making underwriting decisions and working on complex and often high-profile risks.
This role offers the opportunity to move beyond traditional commercial insurance and work with businesses operating across some of the most dynamic sectors in the global economy.
You'll work closely with senior leadership whilst maintaining significant autonomy over underwriting decisions and portfolio development.
Key Responsibilities
Underwriting & Portfolio Management
- Underwrite new and renewal commercial Property & Casualty risks in line with underwriting appetite and delegated authority guidelines.
- Assess risk exposures, coverage requirements, pricing adequacy and policy wordings.
- Negotiate terms, conditions and pricing with brokers to achieve profitable growth.
- Manage and develop an existing portfolio of specialist entertainment-related accounts.
- Monitor portfolio performance, claims trends and emerging industry risks.
- Ensure underwriting decisions are appropriately documented and compliant with governance requirements.
- Collaborate with claims, operations and compliance teams to deliver exceptional client outcomes.

Broker Development & Market Engagement
- Develop and maintain strong broker relationships across the London and regional markets.
- Identify and secure new business opportunities aligned with growth objectives.
- Build visibility and credibility within specialist entertainment and commercial insurance sectors.
- Attend industry events, broker meetings and networking opportunities.
- Contribute to the continued growth and market presence of the underwriting platform.
Technical Leadership
- Provide technical underwriting guidance to colleagues across the team.
- Assist with referrals, complex risks and large account reviews.
- Support product development and underwriting strategy initiatives.
- Contribute to portfolio reviews and management reporting.
Mentorship & Team Development
- Coach and support junior underwriters and underwriting assistants.
- Share technical expertise and best practice.
- Help foster a collaborative and high-performing underwriting culture.

About You
We're interested in speaking with individuals who possess:
- Significant commercial Property & Casualty underwriting experience.
- Strong technical knowledge across property and liability classes.
- A proven track record of managing profitable underwriting portfolios.
- Experience building and maintaining broker relationships.
- Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent underwriting judgement and commercial awareness.
- Experience mentoring or supporting less experienced colleagues.
Particularly Attractive Experience
- Live events, sports, leisure or hospitality risks.
- Film, television, media or entertainment-related insurance.
- Venue, promoter, production company or contractor exposures.
- Specialist commercial or niche underwriting portfolios.
- International or multinational insurance programmes.
- ACII, Dip CII or equivalent qualifications.
