Senior Underwriter | London (Hybrid) | Competitive Salary + Discretionary Bonus
Shape the credit and underwriting function of an entrepreneurial lender that wants to do things differently.
About the Company
Our client is an early-stage, entrepreneurial specialist lender, providing asset-backed secured finance within the bridging market, including some distinctive products such as rental income-based lending. With a culture that embraces fresh thinking and a willingness to do things differently from traditional industry approaches, they have ambitious growth plans and are now making a key hire to build out the team.
About the Role
This is a Senior Underwriter role with a broader scope than traditional underwriting. Alongside full underwriting, you will bring a strong credit element and a business and commercial lens to every deal, and get involved in the operational side of the business, such as speaking with new technology and data vendors. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will take part in collaborative conversations about how deals are approached, rather than simply following a set process, with the potential to build and lead a junior underwriter in the future. An early December start would be ideal.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
