Are you an experienced UK Commercial Underwriter looking to join a growing and ambitious underwriting business?
Operating on a Hybrid Basis, reporting into our London Office, Jensten Underwriting (MGA) part of the Jensten Group are seeking a commercially minded and relationship-focused Commercial Underwriter to play a key role in the continued growth and profitability of our specialist schemes portfolio.
The Role
Reporting into the underwriting leadership team, you will be responsible for underwriting new business, supporting broker development initiatives, and ensuring profitable scheme performance across a range of commercial products.
The role will focus primarily on Commercial Combined business, with any experience underwriting Contractors Combined risks a benefit.
You will work closely with brokers, our capacity provider, and internal stakeholders to deliver exceptional service standards while helping to develop and grow specialist schemes and products.
Key Responsibilities
- Underwrite new commercial business in line with delegated authority.
- Provide competitive quotations and technical underwriting support to brokers.
- Build and develop strong relationships with brokers, supporting new business growth.
- Assist in broker development activities, identifying opportunities to increase income and profitability.
- Monitor and manage scheme performance, ensuring profitable outcomes for both the business and capacity providers.
- Support the development and enhancement of underwriting criteria, rating structures, policy wordings, terms, and conditions.
- Assist with the creation and launch of new insurance products and schemes.
- Monitor market trends and competitor activity to ensure products remain competitive and relevant.

About You
We're keen to speak with candidates who have:
- Proven underwriting experience gained within an Insurer, MGA, or Scheme Broker environment.
- Strong experience underwriting Commercial Combined risks.
- Exposure to Contractors Combined business would be highly beneficial.
- A strong focus on new business generation and portfolio growth.
- Experience developing and managing broker relationships.
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of insurance market dynamics.
- The ability to balance underwriting discipline with service excellence.
